Abstract

Censorship of scholars suppresses academic freedom. In this article, we describe how academic communities can unite to defend academic freedom. We present the story of the Academic Freedom Alliance – a single-cause, non-partisan organization dedicated to the protection of academic freedom – as an example of an organizational response to censorship and the suppression of scholarship.
